Geology student Jessica Whiteaker took second place in the environmental posters category at the 2017 Illinois Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation symposium. The symposium, funded by the NSF, assists universities and colleges in their efforts to significantly increase the numbers of students matriculating into and successfully completing high quality degree programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The Department of Geology and the Dean recognize the hard work Jessica put into her presentation and congratulate her for this award. We're sure there will be more. Take a look at her poster.
